Brent specializes US, Canadian and cross-border taxes. Prior to becoming a partner at Hutcheson & Co., Brent articled at the Auditor Generals office in Victoria, BC. Brent graduated from the University of Victoria in 1986 with a B.Sc. in Marine Biology. After his first degree, he received a diploma in Accounting from BCIT, followed by his Chartered Accountant designation in 1995. He completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Program in 1997 and has also been a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Colorado since 2013.
When he is not attending to tax and corporate planning and preparation, Brent is passionate advocate for the ocean environment. He is a master ocean yachtsman and scuba diver. He is also an active member of in volunteering for causes he believes in – he is District Commander for South Island division of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron; and Commodore of the Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club; a past Commander of the Victoria Power Squadron; Treasurer of the Fair Mining Collaborative; and past President of the Victoria British Columbia Council. With the time left in a day, Brent is a busy husband and father to three grown children and a schnauzer.
